25 December 2009 – Our Dogs

It was lovely to get to LKA and see everyone before Christmas. The show always attracts a good entry. I think the NEC is a dismal venue at the best of times and for this year we were sent to the East Car Park, from where we had to take a bus to the hall, those with very large trolleys would have had a very long push. I think the lighting in the halls is awful very drab and makes the red dogs look decidedly beige. At least the rings are a good size and we were situated next to a coffee bar and the loos. I think the Papillon exhibitors could have put Royal Mail out of business with the number of Christmas cards being swapped.

Ms. Oliver-Wyles judged the breed and found her principle winners in:
Dog CC & BOB : VICTOR, Mr I & Mrs S & MCLAUGHLIN Miss E – Ch Lafford Fly Me Too Farleysbane JW, Res Dog CC : MILLER Miss K F – Feorlig Versace JW
Bitch CC : STEWART, Mrs K & STEWART-KNIGHT Miss K – Denemore Story’s Echo at Tussalud TAF NAF, Res Bitch CC : PHILLIPS Mr A – Volpecula Youre So Vain At Amicae, Best Puppy : STEWART, Mrs K & STEWART-KNIGHT Miss K – Denemore Story’s Echo at Tussalud.

A good result for Pat Munn was winning the Champion Stakes with Jap Ch Ir Ch Smileline Cover Girl Immortal Gene. Many congratulations to all the winners. It was nice to see Kay Stewart ringside and Kay and Kirsten must have been thrilled to take the BCC with their young puppy.

Irene Robb had bought a lovely cake along to share with everyone in celebration of Starlets recent winning of the breed record. Unbeknown to Irene we managed to steer her to the middle of the grooming area where most of the exhibitors were and It was an honour at on behalf of the Papillon Breed Council to present Irene & Starlet – Ch Gleniren Statlight Kisses, with the Papillon Breed Council Trophy which has been created for presentation to the current breed record holder, to be engraved with the winners details and passed on as and when the record of CC winning is beaten. A fitting tribute for an extraordinary achievement. To crown a very pleasant day, I made the journey home in record time, something I had been dreading as, Sundays and the M25 are usually a horrendous combination.

Well that’s about all the news for this year. All that remains is for me to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a very happy and successful New Year, thank you to all those who sent me info for the notes this past year, please continue to do so in 2010.
