08 January 2010 – Our Dogs

Just one Open show result so far this year, but must say it is a pretty impressive one for Kirsty Miller, at Luton CA there was an excellent entry for Papillons judged by Mr T Allcock MBE, Kirsty won all three classes: her Puppy Feorlig Chase the Dream at just 6 months old won junior class, there was 15 in the class, then she won Post Graduate with Ringlands Centigrade and then won Open with Feorlig Versace JW who also got Best of Breed and then went on to win Toy Group 1, Feorlig Chase the Dream got BPIB and went on to Toy Puppy Group 4. Id say that’s a great start to the year, many congratulations.

I have been asked by the Secretary of the Papillon (Butterfly Dog) Club, to publish some information regarding the Club’s Christmas Newsletter. The actual announcement that was posted on papnet is now on the clubs website: www.papillonclub.co.uk .

Many members were surprised not to receive the usual Christmas Newsletter but instead received a news-sheet along with the AGM notice and membership renewal.

Carolyne Alward-Chebsey says: “The ‘mailing’ of the news-sheet was sent out, against the advice of the Secretary, by two members of the Committee (one of whom was a senior Officer of the Club), and without the agreement or knowledge of the full Committee. As you will have seen on the Club website, a Newsletter was produced, but was stopped from being posted due to incorrect information being given regarding the financial state of the Club and the costings of the forthcoming joint show in the New Year. The main reason given for this was that we would have to pay a substantial amount for the hire of a new venue for the Papillon Joint Championship Show hosted by our Club and to be held on the 18th July. However, since this decision, finances have been looked into more thoroughly by our Treasurer, and, with a refund from a previous booking, the Club can now fund the printing of a Newsletter, albeit with slightly smaller content. Therefore, the Club will be issuing a Newsletter in the New Year, which we hope will help to make up for some of the disappointment caused by not receiving the usual Christmas issue.” The Secretary continues: “On a different note, we have to report the resignation of our Chairman, Mr. Keith Langdon, therefore, Mrs. Bubbles Wood-Davis will be Acting Chairman until the AGM. The Club`s Secretary and Treasurer remain in office along with the remainder of a strong committee who will endeavour to serve its Members to its utmost ability in the future years for the benefit of the Club, and to right the wrongs that have been committed over the lack of a Christmas newsletter. We look forward to the coming year with hope for the future of our Club that it may grow from strength to strength. We look forward to seeing you all at the open show in February, and, as previously, please send your entries to the Show Secretary, Mrs. Sue Langdon. Again, we give our sincere apologies to all Members who did not receive their copy of the Christmas newsletter” If you have any comments regarding the above please forward them to Mrs Allward-Chebsey.
