01 January 2010 – Our Dogs

Firstly I would like to wish you all a very Happy, Healthy and Sucessful New Year. Who knows what 2010 will bring – but I hope it will be good things for everyone.

I had some Agility news from Denise Welsh with the final results of the Papillon Agility league. Denise and Alec really deserve praise for the work they have put into furthering the interest of Agility amongst Papillon owners and going from the entries they are getting now its easy to see just how popular Agility is.

Denise says: “The Papillon Agility League Final took place at the Just Minis Agility Show on Sunday 13th December at Golden Cross Equestrian Centre. A bitterly cold day but it was well received as usual with competitors coming down from as far as Wales and Derbyshire, Papillons are doing exceptionally well in agility these days with many Papillons climbing up through the grades, also there are a lot more Juniors which is always good news. David Russell with his lovely Petichien dog is now Grade 7 and Denise Welsh’s Merlin (Pipistrelle) a lovely black and white dog managed to start at Grade 3 in March and finish in Grade 6 in October, hoping for Grade 7 in 2010”.

The winners of the grades are as follows: Grade 1, Sue Williams – Loki (Lozek). Grade 2, Debbie Goodwin-Sonny (Temelora). Grade 3, Denise Welsh-Merlin (Pipistrelle). Grade 5, David Russell – Caeyn (Petitchien). Grade 6, Barbara Pointer – Daisy (Bedellus). Grade7, Lynda Stangle – Alex (Hemdale). There are five juniors in the League now and the Junior winner this year was Emily High with Anton. The winner of the Harlie the Magnificent Trophy went to David Russell and Caeyn and the winner of the Novice Trophy went to Debbie Goodwin and Sonny. Many congratulations to all the winners and I am sure we all wish you much success in 2010.

A date for your diaries is 17th July which will be the next Limited Agility Show of the South of England Papillon Club at Bradfield, an event combined with the Club’s Fun-Day makes for a fabulous day out.

In the breed ring, Mrs L Woodrow judged up at Sheffield and Dist KA and found her BOB in: Bruce & Bruce-Jackson’s Tijuana Teddy Boy and Best Puppy in Weston’s Powdermill Red Hot Touch. Please continue letting me have any breed related news.
