Papillon Rescued Dogs

Here are just a few Papillons who have been rehomed (click on photo to enlarge)...

Poppy came in with Daisy after their owner sadly passed away. However, unlike Daisy, Poppy came in with a 'few' problems — Poppy had decided she could bite (and she would if she wanted too!!). We found some of this was pain related as she improved greatly after a visit to the chiropracter. She had two discs in her neck put back into place, one shoulder, two discs in her back and both hips put back — no wonder she bit! We worked hard with her and she has just left for her new home, wagging her tail and asking for her back scratching, which is what she loved in the last couple of weeks before going to her new home. She still has a few issues but her new owner is aware of these and is prepared to work with her, we are here for advice if needed with her.

Gizmo was signed over to rescue as his young owner developed severe health problems towards their dogs and cats, a beautiful boy with a super character, now gone to his new home with another young papillon for company. A delight to have to stay with me.

I received a call from Bentley's current adopters, saying  his owner was changing jobs and couldn't take the dogs with her. The first picture is of Bently when he arrived at Yvonne's, a screaming scared mess, his coat was so matted he had to be bathed twice before the clippers would go between his coat and his skin, his toe nails were also very long, If you look at pictures 2 and 3, you will see how swelled his face was as well. When he arrived with me he was taken for a vet check, who found he also had ear mites and his teeth were appalling. An appointment was made to have his teeth cleaned a couple of days later, this proved to be impossible, every tooth had to be removed except one, there was so much tartar on them and every one was running with pus behind it. He has now been with me for 2 weeks and I am working with him, you still can't touch him without him sceaming, he thinks it's still going to hurt, we are gently brushing him daily with a soft brush to get him used to it but he's not impressed!  He is now starting to trust us a little and will give one paw then the other, he also stands on his back legs and waves to you, no doubt he will be with us a little while until rehabilitated, or he will stay with us if it proves too much for him to be groomed properly or to be handled without screaming. This boy is 14 years old!

Crystal was handed over to rescue because her owner sadly could no longer care for her, she is 10 years old, she is now happily settled in her new home.

Rocky was found wandering the streets. He was kept by his finder after he was reported to the RSPCA and pollice, but after a few months his new owner decided that she couldn't keep him so gave him to a family member. After a few weeks his new owner decided that he didn't fit into their lifestyle so contacted Welfare/Rescue. He went to his new home on 29/10/05

Mickey came into rescue because his owners said he wasn't getting on with their other dogs. He was rehabilitated and re-homed where he has settled in well.

Adam came into rescue when his owner sadly died. He was handed over to rescue by a neighbour (with the families permission) when she found out the family were going to put him into the local dog pound. He is now happily settled in his new home.

Fizz was brought in from the local RSPCA with her housemate — an American Bulldog! She has a wonderful outgoing  personality and lives life to the full, literally — she can clear a four foot stable door without any effort! She has been re-homed with an active walking family and has settled in really well.

This is Scooby who came into rescue when his family could no longer keep him for personal reasons. A lovely well adjusted boy, but inclined to bark at people he doesn't know. He has been re-homed with a family who adore him and is just starting obedience classes.

Danielle has had 3 homes so far that we can trace in his short life. He is now with his new family. He has other paps to play with as well as ducks, rabbits, guinea pigs, etc., and has settled in well and is a much loved part of the family.

Monty was handed over to rescue after a series of bites to the children in the family and social services getting involved. He was mostly rehabilitated and has settled in well in his new experienced home. He has had one or two slight setbacks with his behaviour, but is moving forward nicely. He is starting obediece classes and will start agility in September — watch out for this lad!
