| Dog World | At Driffield Dog CC and BOB went to Ch Bodebi Rhythm Is A Dancer owned and bred by John Turner and the late Gary Turner with the Res Dog CC going to Amy Mason's Thoughts Of Stardom At Amsema JW. Irene and Glenn Robb took both Bitch CC and Res Bitch CC with Ch Gleniren Starlight Kisses and Gleniren Sealed With A Kiss Sunshoo respectively and also took BP with another bitch Gleniren Dancing Queen Sunshoo TAF. Interestingly both CC winners and the BP were all sired by Daneview Rhythm & Blues at Sunshoo and the Bitch CC and Res Bitch CC winners have the same dam Gleniren Scarlet Kissagram. Daneview Rhythm & Blues at Sunshoo and Gleniren Scarlet Kissagram are both sired by Ringlands Eric the Red at Sunshoo. Irene and Glenn have also learnt recently that Gleniren Scarlet Robin Sunshoo who is by Int Ch Silenzio’s Robin Hood out of Sunshoo Imascarlet Erika at Gleniren and now owned by Julie Dickinson Franks gained his Australian title and with it went BIS. I also hear that in France Austrene Academy Award bred by Marion Sloan took his last CAC thereby gaining his French Championship taking with it BOB and getting down to the last 6 in the Group. We don't hear of many UK phalenes, as he is, or papillons taking their titles in France. This lad now revels in the title of Dutch,Belgium,Luxembourg,German,French, and International Champion. I have been asked to mention the following on behalf of the papillon (Butterfly Dg) Club "Membership Lists will be available on request from the Treasurer, Doug Colyer, of the Papillon (Butterfly Dog) Club, either via email in one excel spreadsheet or A4 size hard copy upon receipt of a large stamped (70p postage) addressed envelope. At the moment there are only approx. 70 members on the list but more applications are coming every day." It would seem to me to be sensible to wait until there are far more members on the list before ordering a copy otherwise it will soon be out of date. A suggestion has been made that a list be available on the Member's Area of the Club web site which could far more easily be kept up to date and hopefully this suggestion will be taken up. A successful day for Anna Fraser and Gillian Graham at Scottish Toydog Society Open Show where their Northlyte Timeless at Bonmeshay won Best In Show at 14 months old, one week on from gaining his final Junior Warrant points. Many congratulations to them and of course to Ruben. Finally Sophie Langdon has asked me to mention that the South Wales Papillon Club are organising a handling training day on Sunday the 21st October which will include basic and advanced junior handling and ringcraft training. To be held at Caerwent community centre the cost will be £10 for the day with an optional buffet lunch to be provided. Large and small dogs are invited and handlers of all abilities and ages. Extra dogs can be provided for handlers needing to share dogs provided notice is given in advance. more information contact Sue Allen on 02920 540068 or e-mail tanglethyme@btinternet.com. Quite a busy fortnight for the Club as of course their Championship Show is to be held on 7 October at Caerphilly Leisure Centre. Talking of the South Wales Cub I had a look recently at their web site and I see it has been given a new and very professional finish. Although parts of it are still under completion it looks very nice indeed, do have a look - the address is http://www.southwalespapclub.co.uk/. Well done to the web master Sue Allen |

| Dog World | At Belfast Dog CC and BOB went to Jap & Ir Ch Smileline Covergirl Immortal Gene owned by James Newman and Pat Munn, I believe his first UK CC, he went on to take Group 2. Bitch CC went to Jo Davidson Poston's Ch Ibstock Tululah For Spinillons and Jo also took the Res Dog CC with Ch & Ir Ch Ibstock Bright Spark For Spinillons ShCM - both of which were of course bred by Rosemary Ayris. Res Bitch CC went to Denemore Icon's Butterfly owned by the late Dolly Kavanagh. BP was Ann and John Cooper's Ringlands Eternal Flame at Ancojo. I have been asked to print the following "It's that time again - I'm calling for any items/articles/stories and adverts for the Christmas issue of the Newsletter. If you have anything you want to put in, the closing date for copy is no later than 28th October. Please send them to me either by post to - 44 Gilbert Road, Litchfield, Staffs. I look forward to receiving your many contributions, which we know help to make the Newsletter what it is. Thanks. Carolyne Allward-Chebsey, Newsletter Editor, The Papillon (Butterfly Dog) Club" A reminder that there has been a change of judge for the Papillon (Butterfly Dog) Club Open Show to be held on 18 November at the usual Ryton on Dunsmore venue. Unfortunately because of the illness of her husband Diane Mooney has had to withdraw and her place will be taken by the Toy All Rounder Tony Allcock. Entries close 26 October and schedules can be obtained from Jean Banfield Tel: 01179 407000. Make sure you get those entries of as early as possible though as there are it seems going to be a lot of postal disruptions over the coming weeks. I was sorry to hear that Lynda Phillips (Motylek) had been in hospital following a heart attack although I understand Lynda is now back at home and doing well. I do wish someone had let me know so I could have put it in the notes earlier if you do have any news do let me know so that it can be shared with others. Lynda is grateful to everyone who did know and who sent cards flowers and e-mails and she hopes to be back in the ring with Leo before too long. |
| Our Dogs | Belfast Ch. show saw Mrs B Banbury judging the breed, she found her principle winners in: DCC & BOB: JAP CH SMILELINE COVERGIRL IMMORTAL GENE (J NEWMAN & P MUNN), RDCC:CH/IR CH IBSTOCK BRIGHT SPARK FOR SPINILLONS ShCM (MRS J DAVIDSON-POSTON), BCC: CH IBSTOCK TULULAH FOR SPINILLONS (MRS J DAVIDSON-POSTON), RBCC:DENEMORE ICON'S BUTTERFLY (THE LATE MRS W KAVANAGH), Best Puppy: RINGLANDS ETERNAL FLAME AT ANCOJO (MR J & MRS A COOPER). yet again another group placement for papillons with JAP CH SMILELINE COVERGIRL IMMORTAL GENE taking Group 2. Congratulations to all the winners. I have had some nice Open show wis sent to me, please do continue to send them, as so often they are overlooked in the show reports. Mary melvin has had a good run with her young Phalene puppy Serenglade Sita of Shalandar, at eastbourne and dist. Open show she took best puppy , followed by best puppy and Puppy group 2 at Portsmouth and Southsea Open show, where Sue Catons and her sin Jon's: Red Bequest Ur Ringlands took BOB and Group1.At Coulsdon Open show Mr & Mrs Cooks: Bedellus Rave On, bred by Pat Beadle, at 8 months won junior, Best Puppy and Puppy group 2.Well done to all these winners. The secretary of the Papillon (Butterfly Dog) Club, asked for the following to be included in the notes: "It's that time again - I'm calling for any items/articles/stories and adverts for the Christmas issue of the Newsletter. If you have anything you want to put in, the closing date for copy is no later than 28th October. Please send them to me either by post to - 44 Gilbert Road, Lichfield, Staffs. I look forward to receiving your many contributions, which we know help to make the Newsletter what it is. Thanks. Carolyne Allward-Chebsey, Newsletter Editor, The Papillon (Butterfly Dog) Club" I was sorry to hear Lynda Phillips had recently suffered a heart attack, I do hope Lynda is well on the way to recovery. With the postal strikes taking hold, do remember to get a certificate of posting for your entries as I am sure there is going to be a lot of mail going astray when things get back to normal. Even better enter on- line, or get someone to do it for you. There have been some interesting comments on a proposed "Champion Class" being introduced at Ch. shows , there is even an on-line pettition you can join to encourage the KC to think about it. Some people seem very keen , others are very wary. I must say the I feel our current standard for crowning a Champion is very high and so it should remain. We usuall average 7 or 8 newly crowned Champions each year. Heaven forbid we follow some countries where a young puppy can become a Champion over just one weekend of cluster shows. There is a thought some those puppies just need four legs and a head to gain their title. I can feel for owners waiting on the magical third CC, especially when a big winning dog is being heavilly campaigned. I would like to see the Reserve CC have some extra value, when a dog has two tickets, perhaps 4 RCCs won after the second CC could count to the final ticket. What ever happens, I think most people would want their Champion to have beaten the "lot". It would be nice to hear some of your thoughts on this subject. |

| Dog World | I am told that the new venue for the S Wales Papillon Club Championship Show proved to be a success, being spacious with plenty of car parking, and that the show was most enjoyable. Bitch CC and BIS went to Pauline Wilson's Invergarick Modern Milly JW, this was her second CC her first also coming at a Breed Club Championship Show - the Papillon (Butterfly Dog) Club's show last year. Dog CC, his first, went to Sue Morrell and Thesbina Teague's Temelora Just Magic JW, interestingly his sire Temelora Wallace took the CC at last year's show - and with it BIS. Reserves went to Ann Stevenson's Papplewick Perfect Pitch in dogs and the late Dolly Kavanagh's Denemore Icon's Butterfly in bitches. BP was Joyce Finlayson's Sharjoy Back To The Future. A four year old red and white papillon named Caesar has been stolen in a house robbery in Tottenham, London N17 on 13 September. His owners understandably are devastated and have offered a substantial reward for his safe return. Please keep and eye out for any new papillons in your area which match this description. There is a photo of Caesar available on the web at Pethunters, http://www.pethunters.co.uk and Petsearch UK, http://www.petsearchuk.org.uk, any information please contact Pethunters on 0845 8385423 or e-mail info@pethunters.co.uk or PetsearchUK on 01889 562907 e-mail petsearchuk.steele@yahoo.co.uk. Always nice to report success for newcomers. Sue Caton and her son John have been having a wonderful time in the ring with their Red Bequest Ur Ringlands known as Bentley whose latest success was taking BOB and G! at the Portsmouth and Southsea KA Open Show. This is only their second year of showing papillons and already Bentley has taken 3 BOBS each with a G4 placement and 3 RBOBs and Best AV Toy. |

Well done to all the winners. Sue Morrell sent me the following: " We are thrilled that Temelora Just Magic JW won the DCC and RBIS at the South Wales Papillon Club Championship Show on the 7th October, but adding to this is the fact that his sire, Temelora Wallace won the DCC and BIS at the same show last year -certainly following in his father`s footsteps! The show was held in a new venue which was spacious and provided ample car parking space. Our thanks to the organisers for putting on a lovely show". Carolyne Allward-Chebsey asked for thr following to be included in the breed notes: A four year old male (entire) Papillon named Caeser was stolen during a house robbery on the 13th September from the Totenham N17 area of London. His owners are devastated by the loss and have offered a substantial reward for his safe return. | Our Dogs | No showing news this week, whats happened - no Open Show wins ? I was sorry to hear Sophie Langdon had been involved in a motor accident while on the way to a judging appointment at the White Rose Open show where Sophie was due to judge Papillons and the JHA classes, although in pain and suffering from whiplash, she managed to complete her appointment, her BOB was Raper's KAZKELL CLOCKWORK DREAM and BPIB - Raper & Maskell's DEFINATELY A LADY FOR KENNICE .I am glad to hear, although Sophie sustained about £400 worth of damage to her car, in herself she is ok.
