Three sets of Championship Show results. At Birmingham National Dog CC and BOB went to Irene Robb's Fin & Bel Ch Siljans My Man who I see is now owned by Irene Robb. This is I believe My Man's second CC his first coming a couple of months ago under David Roe at Crufts. Bitch CC went to Brian and Pat Cox's Ch Wish Upon a Star over Tricianbri Sh.CM. Reserves went to Jenny Scovell's Ch Caswell Classic Tri in dogs and Irene and Glenn Robb's Gleniren Juniper Starmaker Sunshoo in bitches. BP went to Amicae Julianna owned by Mrs M Whithill, Mrs M Comrie & Master F Comrie. .

At the Papillon Club of Scotland Championship Show Dog CC and BIS went to Abbeyton What's It All About owned by Mr J Cassidy & Miss S Gauld and I think this may well be a first CC for both dog and owners - if so how wonderful to do this at a Club Championship Show - many congratulations. What's It All About was of course bred by Joan Savage. Bitch CC and RBIS went to Joe Magri's Frasermar Fairy Tale of Rozamie - her first CC although she has a number of Reserves to her credit. A first CC in the breed too I believe for Joe although of course he is no stranger to such awards!!! Reserves went to John Turner's Bodebi Rhythm Is A Dancer in dogs and Tricianbri Gin Fizz Ringlands owned by Pat Munn and Karen Farrell. BPIS went to Amicae Julianna

At SKC Dog CC and BOB went to Irene and Glenn Robb's Sunshoo Imahot Shot Gleniren - his first I believe, Bitch CC to Joe Magri's Frasermar Fairy Tale of Rozamie - a quick second for her. Reserves went to John Turner's Bodebi Rhythm Is A Dancer in dogs and Elizabeth Cochrane's Tijuana Victoria in bitches. BP was Julie and Neville Blythin's Diquest Fairy Doll to Julesville

As of that were not enough shows we also had the South of England Papillon Club's Open Show. I understand another outstanding success and much appreciation shown for the fine fare on offer. BIS went to Michael and Pauline Dembiniok's Temelora Sundancer At Hollrexia.

Our Dogs

Well as promised, lots of results this week. It was a very busy weekend for Papillons not least in Scotland where the SKC May Ch Show  and the Papillon (Butterfly Dog) Club of Scotland were held on consecutive days.

At SKC the judge was Mrs S Terry and she found her main winners in: DCC and BOB: SUNSHOO IMAHOT SHOT GLENIREN (MRS I & MR G ROBB), RDCC: BODEBI RHYTHM IS A DANCER (MR J W TURNER), BCC: FRASERMAR FAIRY TALE OF ROZAMIE (MR J A MAGRI), RBCC: SUNSHOO IMAHOT SHOT GLENIREN (MRS I & MR G ROBB, Best Puppy: DIQUEST FAIRY DOLL TO JULESVILLE (MR N & MRS J BLYTHIN).

The Papillon (Butterfly) Dog Club Of Scotland Championship Show, saw Mrs. R. Ayris (Ibstock) judging and she found her principle winners in: DCC and B.I.S. Mr. J Cassidy & Miss S Gauld, ABBEYTON WHATS IT ALL ABOUT, RDCC: Mr. J TURNER, BODEBI RHYTHM IS A DANCER, BCC and R.B.I.S.Mr. J. Magri, FRASERMAR FAIRY TAIL OF ROZAMIE, RBCC Mrs. P MUNN & Miss K. FARRELL, TRICIANBRI GIN FIZZ RINGLANDS, BPIS Mrs. M. WHITEHILL, Mrs, M. & Master F COMRIE , AMICAE JULIANNA, BEST VETERAN:  Mrs K. MASKELL, KAZKELL DAYDREAM.

I had a lovely e-mail from Joan Savage following the show, Joan bred the BIS winner and she was on cloud nine, Joan asked me to mention: Joe Cassidy and Susan Gauld who are the owners of "Alfie" who at just fourteen months won Best In Show. This being only his third Ch. show and the first Papillon owned by Joe and Susan, Joan says they are very patient people as they waited almost 2 years for their Papillon, but more importantly they are such nice people and have made a lot of friends is such a short time at the ringside showing. Many congratulations to them and all the winners, and interesting to see both the BCC and RDCC winners picking up the same awards on consecutive days.

While all this excitement was going on north of the border, the South of England Papillon Club held their Open show at Chieveley, the Judge was Mrs E Bartram for the Breed classes and Mrs S Obbard for the Special Welfare and JHA classes. The principle winners were: BIS Dembiniok’s TEMELORA SUNDANCER AT HOLLREXIA, RBIS and BOS: Langdon’s CHRISTEA MIDNIGHT ROSE FOR SKYVANA, BPIS and BMPIS: Banfield’s KINGSHAVEN XENTRE PAGE, RBPIS: Stanbury’s INIXIA PURE FANTASY, B Phalene in Show: Morrell & Teague’s TEMELORA SOUL MATE, Best Veteran in Show: Leverett’s GLASAFON ROYAL WELSH. Best Junior Handler in Show; Fran McWade.

Talking of nice people, this was a most popular BIS win for Mike and Pauline Dembiniok, although just a few years in the breed, they seem to know the direction they want to go and always turn their dogs out so well. Many congratulations to them and to all the winners.

A little further a field: I have news from Penny Robins, Penny tells me her first ever export to Australia: Jaroma Glen Elgin who is litter brother to Penny’s Jaroma Glen Tay. At his first Ch. show Biggenden A.P & I Society. He won Minor Puppy in Breed, Best of Breed, Minor puppy in-group & got short-listed for Best in Show. I think that’s a pretty good start for a youngster and I hope we hear a lot more of him. Well done to Penny.

Many thanks to Linda Townsend who sent the following form Ireland: Hibernian 31st. All Breed Championship Show

PAPILLONS: Judge Mr.M.McCarthy (Ireland), BOB & DGS: CH. SERENGLADE SPECIAL DESIGN FOR DENEMORE ( The Late Dolly Kavanagh), BGS & RBOB: DENEMORE ICON'S BUTTERFLY (Thr Late Dolly Kavanagh), RGSD: OMAONAIG FIRE BIRD (Diane Mooney), RGSB: CONYSLUCK MISS DAISY (Linda Townsend)

BEST VETERAN: MAGIC FLUTE OF BRENTVILLE (Linda Townsend), CH.SERENGLADE SPECIAL DESIGN FOR DENEMORE also went on to win the toy group and came 4th Best in Show. In Phalenes: Judge Mr.J.D.Simpson (UK) BOB: APORIA CHIASSOSO (Diane Mooney), RBOB: SUNSHOO IM A SPECIAL EDITION GLENIREN (Marion Sloan). There were no Green Stars available for this Breed.

I had a nice chat with Sue Jones this week and although in good spirits, Sue is still having trouble with her eyesight, she has had some laser treatment and they have ruled out the need of operating, but Sue says there is very little improvement. I am sure she would appreciate a card or note to wish her well.

Keep the news coming, don’t be shy.

I mentioned in last week's Breed Notes report of the Papillon Cub Championship Show that I believed it was a first CC and BIS for Joe Cassidy and Susan Gauld's Abbeyton What's It All About . Well it was indeed and not only that but Alfie as he is known is the first papillon owned by Joe and Susan. At just 14 months old this was only his third championship show and needless to say both of them along with Alfie's breeder Joan Savage are extremely delighted

At Bath Bitch CC and BOB went to Irene and Glenn Robb's Ch Gleniren Starlight Kisses Dog CC went to John Turner's Bodebi Rhythm Is A Dancer - I believe this is his second - Reserves went to Michael and Pauline Dembiniok's Temelora Sundancer At Hollrexia in dogs and Jerry Munroe and Brendan Olding's Candygolds Young At Heart Of Papplewick (Imp) in bitches. BP went to Mrs M Whitehill, Mrs M Comrie & Master F Comrie's Amicae Julianna.  At the SGM of the Papillon (Butterfly Dog) Club held at Bath after judging 31 members attended and approved the Audited Accounts which were not available in time for the ATM. The Committee thank those Members who stayed behind after judging for the short meeting.

At the Papillon & Phalene Club of Ireland for the first time both Papillons and Phalenes had Green Stars available. In papillons GSB & BOB went to Kilpatrick's Ch. Sonsirae Polgara The Sorceress, GSD to Townsend's Kewen Bengally Tiger,  RGSD to Diane Mooney's Omaonaig Grey Swallow and RGSB to Queenie Bruce's Tijuana Princess Penelope. Queenie also too BP with Tijuana Lady Charlotte. In Phalenes GSD and BOB went to Queenie's well known Tijuana Melody Maker, GSB to Marion Sloan's Austrene Hollywood Calling Carasweet and RGSB to Marion's Sunshoo I'm A Special Edition Gleniren. Whilst Melody Maker was the only phalene entered and therefore no RGSD awarded he certainly did not rest on his laurels for taking the Phalene BOB but went on to take BIS.

Staying in Ireland at the Irish Toy Dog Society in Papillons GSD & BOB went to The Late Dolly Kavanagh's Ir Ch Serenglade Special Design for Denemore, GSB to Queenie's Tijuana Princess Penelope, RGSD to Queenie's Tijuana Super Man and RGSB to Diane's Conysluck Magic Flute. In Phalenes GSD & BOB again went to Queenie's  Tijuana Melody Maker, GSB to Marion's well known Ir & GB Ch Sunshoo I'm A Movie Premiere and RGSB to Marion's Austrene Music To My Ears.

Starting with Bath Ch. Show results this week, the judge was Mrs A Richardson, her BCC and BOB was: Mrs I & Mr G ROBB Ch Gleniren Starlight Kisses, RBCC: Dr R B & MUNROE Candygolds Young At Heart Of Papplewick (Imp), DCC: Mr J W TURNER Bodebi Rhythm Is A Dancer, RDCC: Mr M & Mrs P DEMBINIOK Temelora Sun Dancer at Hollrexia, Best Puppy: Mrs M COMRIE, Mrs M & Mr F & WHITEHILL Amicae Julianna and Best Veteran: Mr & Mrs P C COUGHLAN Farfalla Dynasty For Paupad. Starlight Kisses was short listed in the group judged by Mr J Simpson. Congratulations to all the winners and I am glad that they seemed to get through the day before the weather turned too bad. It doesn’t seem to have stopped raining since Bath, I am hoping to get to Southern Counties this week so hope its not too soggy there.

On completion of the judging at Bath, the Papillon (Butterfly Dog) Club held a Special General Meeting, The Secretary sent the following for publication: “The SGM of the Papillon (Butterfly Dog) Club held on 25th May, the audited accounts were approved unanimously by the 31 Members present. The Committee thank those Members who stayed behind after judging for the short meeting”.

Many thanks to Eilish Neally for the following: “The Papillon & Phalene Club of Ireland held their annual breed show, but this year with one significant difference; there were separate green stars on offer for Phalenes for the first time, at the club show.  It was Queenie Bruce’s Tijuana Melody Maker who took the honours!  Congratulations on a fabulous win” I see Melody Maker went on to win Best in Show, so many congratulations to Queenie. The Judge was Mr. Michael Leonard (Ireland) and his winners were: Papillon, BOB & GSB - Ch. Sonsirae Polgara The Sorceress, RGSB - Tijuana Princess Penelope, GSD - Kewen Bengally Tiger, RGSD -  -Omaonaig. Grey Swallow, Best Puppy - Tijuana Lady Charlotte, Res. Best Puppy - Issoria Fifty Fifty. In Phalenes: BOB & GSD and Best in Show - Tijuana Melody Maker, GSB Austrene  Hollywood Calling Carasweet, RGSB - Sunshoo I'm A Special Edition Gleniren.

At the Irish Toydog Society Ch. Show Judge: Mr. R. Terry (UK) the results were: Papillon, BOB & GSD - Ir Ch Serenglade Special Design for Denemore, RGSD - Tijuana Super Man, GSB - Tijuana Princess Penelope, RGSB - Conysluck Magic Flute. In Phalene, BOB & GSD - Tijuana Melody Maker, GSB - IR & GB CH Sunshoo I'm A Movie Premiere, RGSB - Austrene Music To My Ears.

The World show has taken place in Mexico and there were only a few Papillons and no Phalene in competition, I expect Mexico is not the easiest of countries to get to for Papillon exhibitors. There are several Champion titles to be gained over the few days of the show making it worthwhile for those that did manage to get there. Next year the World Show will be held in Sweden (I think the following year in Denmark), I am sure it will attract a much higher entry of Papillons  and Phalene, especially from the Scandinavian exhibitors.

Chatting with Jean Leverett this week I was very sorry to hear she has lost Glasafon Successor at 13 years old. Successor; (Ch. Glasafon Mustard x Ch. Glasafon Gordons Girl) was a lovely dog and very good stud, most notable for producing such sweet heads. His grand sire was Ch Inverdon Ganymede. He has produced Champions and ticket winners and was runner-up Top Stud last year, his grand son Glasafon Welsh Gold was:

Our Dogs/ Eukanuba Top Papillon sire 2003 and Runner-up Top Stud Dog 2003 The Papillon (Butterfly Dog) Club.

Congratulations to Denise Welsh , I am not sure where this Agility show was held, but Angel (Bedellus Heaven Sent to Kazim) beat 121 dogs to come 8th out of 129 in Novice Agility.

Chatting with Vivian Cotton this week, I was sorry to hear Viv has not been too good of late. I am not sure if everyone realises just how much work Viv puts into compiling all the records and points for all the top winners each year. I know Viv is extremely carefull in making sure all the results are accurate and anyone with an interest in the past success of the breed really should be very grateful to her, I certainly am as I often refer to her records. I am sure a card from her friends would be most welcome and cheer her up.

Keep the results coming in.

At Southern Counties Bitch CC and BOB went to Denemore Icon's Butterfly owned by the late Dolly Kavanagh - a first CC over here I believe for Icon's Butterfly who was also BP.  Dog CC, his second, went to Irene and Glenn Robb's Sunshoo Imahot Shot Gleniren. Reserves went to Irene Robb's Fin & Bel Ch Siljans My Man  in dogs and Carolyn and David Roe's Sunshoo Imakool Kat Gleniren in bitches.

Interesting results at the Irish International Show where apparently the judge who I understand was from Finland only awarded a Green Star in Papillon males - which went to the late Dolly Kavanagh's Ch Serenglades Special Edition for Denemore -  he withheld the Green Stars in bitches and both sexes of phalenes apparently despite the fact there were some previous winners of those awards present.  I understand at the recent Irish Papillon Ch Show Chris Coffey's Christea Likely Story was named Top Sire for 2006/7

I am sorry to report that Sandra Poulter  (Sanjuper Papillons) is at present in hospital and hopefully will soon be back home. Anyone wishing to send Get Well cards is advised to send them to the home address in the hope that Sandra is back at home by the time these notes are published

Some judges names from the latest Kennel Gazette Darlington 2007 Mrs C Urquhart; Birmingham Dog Show Society 2008 Mrs B Flavell; Blackpool 2008 Mr G Davies; Crufts 2008 Mr G Urquhart; Crufts 2009 Mr J Simpson

It was nice to catch up with friends at Southern Counties Ch. Show and we had a beautiful hot sunny day, the judge for Papillons was: Mrs D Ann Horan, her principle winners were BCC and BOB and BPIB: DENEMORE ICON'S BUTTERFLY (THE LATE MRS W KAVANAGH),  RBCC: SUNSHOO IMAKOOL KAT GLENIREN (MR D & MRS C ROE) DCC: SUNSHOO IMAHOT SHOT GLENIREN (MRS I & MR G ROBB), RDCC: FIN CH SILJANS MY MAN (MRS I ROBB). It was a very good day for the Gleniren/ Sunshoo show team winning three of the top awards.  Sadly the BOB was not shown in the group, I am not sure if Sean had an early flight back to Ireland. It must have been a long day for the Puppy but certainly a worthwhile trip. Its not always easy to check up on the Stakes classes at Championship shows, if you have some success here do let me know. Often they are big classes and very deserved wins. I do know at Southern Counties, Carol Wilsons grand daughter; seven year old Kaitlyn won a 2nd in the YKC Stakes class with Erinsjoy Harvey Wallbanger  - she was so pleased, especially as she got £3 prize money – Well done Kaitlyn.

While watching the breed  judging I got chatting to a very nice lady from the Netherlands who has bred Yorkies for many years, I stayed on for the Yorkie judging, it was interesting to hear this lady’s views on toy dogs in general in this country, while she thought that there was plenty of quality in type she felt movement in general was not so good, which I think is a fair comment. It amazes me when I see a Judge writing “such good movement” in their critique on a dog we have just seen hobbling round the ring, one only assumes these judges then go on to fault the really good movers!

One thing I don’t like and you see this more and more these days; that is when the second to the top winner is not invited into the ring to challenge for the reserve, I realise some judges know full well they are not going to award the reserve to the second placed dog, but generally, coming second to the top winner in a good class should surely warrant the invitation to compete. Perhaps some judges can’t be bothered, perhaps time is not on their side or perhaps their feet just hurt!  Come on judges do the right thing and respect the all the unbeaten dogs when awarding reserves.

I am grateful to Val McGivern for letting me know, Sandra Poulter  (Sanjuper) is in hospital after suffering a stroke, I do hope Sandra makes a speedy recovery, if anyone wishes to send her a card, it is best to send them to her home address.

Please note Sue Morrells new email address: Temelorapaps@talktalk.net , Any adverts or enquiries regarding the Papillon (Butterfly Dog) Club new Handbook 2008 should now be sent to Sue at the new address.

Diane Mooney sent the following: “At the Papillon Club Of Ireland Show, the Top Stud Dog for 06/07 was Christine Coffeys Likely Story, he is a son of Tussalud Tell Me a Story” Well done to Christine. Diane also enclosed the following information “I didn’t get to the IKC Show on Saturday but in the leaflet they sent with the numbers telling you times, rings, rules etc was the following: 11) Exhibitors or others handling dogs are warned that a fine of 30 Euros will be imposed in the event of dogs fouling on the floor in the show hall, It is pointed out that fouling in the vicinity of the show also falls into this category. Exhibitors are warned to exercise dogs before entering the show area! Diane says “ This throws a new light on things, having a accident in the ring, one now would have to ask, "anyone got tissues or a bag and thirty euros please."

Finishing on a more serious note, I noticed in this quarters Breed Record Supplement; one lady has had 14 (fourteen) dogs transferred into her name this quarter. We all know how difficult it is to obtain bitches, or is it? 9 (nine) of these 14 are bitches. I would love to hear all about this lady’s planned breeding programme. It appears there is actually more than 14 Papillons there; of course these from the BRS are only the registered ones. Please do be careful when selling. I know in this case some thought they were as selling puppies as pets. In these days of computer technology why doesn’t the KC registration computer throw out a question when a single person buys so many dogs in one quarter? The KC have been contacted and said they have no jurisdiction on who buys or how many dogs are bought. We as breeders, however do, and I cannot imagine anyone ever needing to sell, wholesale to one person.

The Papillon judges for Crufts have now been announced, for 2008 we have: Mr G Urquhart  (Blackpark), 2009 will be Mr J Simpson (Penang) and I believe 2010 is Mrs R Ayris (Ibstock). With the continuing entry increases, I wonder if two judges will ever be introduced for Crufts.

Chatting with Ian Dack, he has asked me to thank you all, not only for the cards and messages of condolence following the death of Rita, he especially would like to thank everyone for the very kind donations to Rita’s charities which amounted to over £270.

I received the schedule for the Northern and Eastern Counties Papillon Club Open Show, which will be held on the 22nd July, The Judge will be Mrs J McKay (Corralyn), and they have some nice specials on offer at the show. Included with the schedule is an order form for the Calendar which the club produces each year, It really is a super Calendar and I can recommend anyone that needs one or for Xmas gifts, this makes a great present. Anne Richardson sent the following regarding the show: “Our secretary, John Edson, is unwell at present; although entries are to be sent to his home address, may I ask that all telephone or e-mail queries concerning the forthcoming show are directed to Jimmy Simpson tel. 01977 662533) or if you can’t reach Jimmy, my number is 01642 724161.We all hope that John is soon fit and well again”.

Sandra Poulter (Sanjuper) sent the following: “I would just like to thank everyone for their cards and well wishes while I was in Hospital. I am now home, steadily improving. We have had to make some changes like bringing a bed downstairs and using the rear of the house, as I cannot climb steps yet. My right leg still has limited movement but my right arm is improving daily and hopefully with Physio I will be moving about soon. Once again thank you for thinking of me, you kept my spirits high”. I am sure we all wish Sandra a speedy recovery.

The Secretary of the Papillon (Butterfly Dog) Club asked for the following to be published:  "The Membership List previously prepared and distributed by the Papillon (Butterfly Dog) Club is now subject to the principles of the Data Protection Act 1998, and in particular to the first principle on fair processing. Members will be given the opportunity to opt for inclusion onto the Club Membership List. Members can only opt on in writing and have the right to opt off at any time. Any paid up Member who wishes to be on this list will need to either fill in a form, which at present is being handed out at the shows where either the Treasurer or Secretary are in attendance, or it can be downloaded from the Club website or can be requested from either the Treasurer or Secretary. Alternatively Members can write a note/letter with clear instructions that have been signed and forwarded on to the Treasurer Douglas Colyer, Deepfield, Sudbourne, Woodbridge, Suffolk, IP12 2BE, agreeing for their details to appear on this list. A form will also be sent out with the next Newsletter. It must be stressed that only those returning a letter or completed form complete with signature will have their details on the Membership List. Emails cannot be signed so are not acceptable in this instance".

The Secretary continues, "Mrs Debbie Burns kindly brought to the Committee's attention that she had seen some Papillon items on the eBay auction site. The Committee made a decision to bid, on behalf of the Club, on this small collection of Papillon Memorabilia that is believed to have belonged to the late Mrs Elizabeth Knowles. The Committee are pleased to say the Club won the auction with a modest bid and now the items will be placed in the Club Archives once they are received".

Some nice Open Show results: Brian Cox sent the following: “Delighted to report, at Christchurch and New Forest Open Show, our Tricianbri Ani Sette went BOB, Toy Group 1, BOS in Show and Best in Show Bred by Exhibitor, Carol Wilson also went Best Puppy in Breed and Puppy Group 3 with Serenglade Tequila Sunrise. Kaitlin Boal, won her Junior handling Class. Kaitlyn (7yrs old) did us all proud and appears to be a natural handler, handling Erinsjoy Harvey Wallbanger who also won the Open Class in the breed. Well done everyone.

I Picked up some Agility results from Denise Welsh : "Amanda White with a Barleybright dog, (Tio) won Grade 1-2 agility at Thames this weekend, a super little dog with a big future. Angel and I were competing in the Knockout at Thames and we came up against a super little red and white Papillon, unfortunately all the owner could say was that his sire was a Gleniren dog, this dog was really going and it beat Angel and me, another one to watch" Janet  Garratt (Hemdale) says: "We would also like to say well done to Lynda Stangle with Alex (Hemdale Alexis The Avenger) on getting 4th place in the Championship class at Thames at the weekend, not bad going for a 10 year old dog" Very good going I would say, so congratulations to all you Runners and Jumpers. As if Papillons don’t have enough success at Showing and Agility, they are great dancers too: Carol Scott (Tanyo) has had a great time with Tarka, performing in Heel Work to Music. Carol wrote the following: "We went to Scotland over the weekend for 2 shows one on the Saturday & another on the Sunday, baring in mind he is only 21 months old & this was his 2nd & 3rd show; Saturday Tarka won starters freestyle, dancing again to: "Love is like a butterfly" (This now puts him out of Starters into Novice, so it gets harder to win) then we won the pairs with his mate Sky, a Collie  to: "Were a couple of Swells”. On the Sunday Tarka won starters Freestyle again" Carol says "I’m like a proud Peacock, I can’t cuddle him enough" Well done to Carol and of course Tarka.

Some intrepid exhibitors travelled across Europe recently to Croatia for the European Dog Show 2007. I don’t have the full results, but here are some: in Papillons: Bitch CAC & CACIB, European Winner ’07 , BOB and Group 3 was Queen Bless JP Victoria, owner; Chie Ejima , I believe Victoria is sired  by Int.Ch Glassafon Connor, Dog CAC & CACIB, BOS and European Winner ’07 was Multi Ch. Geniren Premier League Sunshoo, bred by Irene and Glen Robb  now owned by  Abeloos Devos & Roosens, this win completes Brooklyns International Championship title.. Further congratulations go to UK breeders Rachael and Abbie Gomez (Rozabaron) who bred: Rozabaron Picture Perfect now owned by Marianne Hansen in Denmark, she won her youth title: European Youth Winner 2007 at this show, her very first show.

The Secretary of the Papillon (Butterfly Dog) Club has asked  me to include the following in the notes: "The Membership  List previously prepared and distributed by the Papillon (Butterfly Dog) Club is now subject to the principles of the Data Protection Act 1998, and in particular to the first principle on fair processing.

I have also been asked to mention that recently on Papnet Debbie Burns mentioned that a number of papillon items were being offered for sale on e-bay. Having looked at the items it appeared to me that these were in fact originally the possessions of the late Elizabeth Knowles - they included various books, a framed portrait clearly one of Deirdre Ashdown's being of Theregos Gertrude   and a card singed by many well known names in the breed and referring to 25 years of the Benevolent Fund. I suggested to the committee they may like to consider purchasing these items for the archives and I am pleased to say they were successful in bidding for these. The Secretary advises that the Club got the items for a modest bid - which I believe was £127 plus postage and that the items will indeed be placed in the Club Archives once they are received.

I am pleased to have some success to report for the breed in something other than confirmation. Please those folk who participate in other activity events do let me have your news. In Heelwork To  Music Carol Scott's Tarka who is just 21 months old and had only been to one show previously which he had won had a super weekend.. On Saturday he won Starters Freestyle, dancing to “Love is like a butterfly” - this win puts him out of Starters in to Novice, so it gets harder to win. On the same day he also won the pairs with his friend Sky a collie dancing to “Were a couple of Swells”. On the Sunday Tara was just entered in Starters Freestyle which he again won.

Denise Welsh reports that in agility Amanda White with her dog Tio won Grade 1-2 agility at Thames. And that she also noticed another little red and white papillon competing in the Knockout but unfortunately all the owner could say was that his sire was a Gleniren dog. Denise says this dog was really going and it beat Angel and Denise.

At Three Counties it was another CC and BOB for Jenny Scovell's well known Ch Caswell Classic Tri who I understand went on to G4. He has I believe a G3 and a Group win already to his credit. Bitch CC, her second,  went to Pat Munn's Ringlands Kenmill to Poppy Time, Reserve's to Sue Stanburys Inixia Dream's Magic in dogs and Brian and Pat Cox's Ch Wish Upon a Star over Tricianbri Sh.CM in bitches. BP was Sue Stanburys Inixia Pure Fantasy.

At Border Union Bitch CC and BOB went to Irene and Glenn Robb's Ch Gleniren Starlight Kisses who went on to take Group 2, Dog CC went to Pat Beadle's Bodebi Success Story for Bedellus - I believe this is his second and that his first came at the same show last year so clearly a lucky venue for him. Reserves went to John Turner's Bodebi Rhythm Is A Dancer in dogs and Joe Magri's Frasermar Fairy Tale Of Rozamie in bitches. BP went to Mrs Finlayson's Sharjoy Back ToThe Future

From the Swords & District International Show in Ireland in papillons DGS, CACIB and BOB went to the late Dolly Kavanagh's Ch Serenglade Special Design for Denemore, Res DGS and Res CACIB went to Diane Mooney's Omaonaig Grey Swallow, in bitches GSB went to Dolly's  Denemore Icon's Butterfly,  Res GSB and CACIB to Townsend's Conysluck Miss Daisy Bitch and Res CACIB to Diane Mooney's Conysluck Magic Flute. In Phalenes GSD CACIB and BOB went to Queenie Bruce and Amanda Bruce Jackson's Tijuana Melody Maker and GSB to Marion Sloan's Sunshoo Imaspecial Edition

Our Dogs

At Three Counties Mr T Mather judged the breed and his winners were:Dog CC & BOB : SCOVELL'S CH. CASWELL CLASSIC TRI ,Res Dog CC: STANBURY & UNWIN'S INIXIA DREAMS MAGIC, Bitch CC: MUNN'S RINGLANDS KENMILL TO POPPYTIME, Res Bitch CC: COX'S CH WISH UPON A STAR OVER TRICIANBRI ShCM, Best Puppy: STANBURY'S INIXIA PURE FANTASY. Ch. Caswell Classic Tri, now a Veteran went on to win group Toy Group 4, In the large Puppy Stakes class Kirsty and Jenny Millers: FEORLIG UNFORGETABLE ELLA won second place, congratulations to all the winners. I was sorry to hear from Jenny Miller that they recently lost their stud dog; Kingshaven Party Goer to Feorlig, who had produced so well for them.

Down at Southampton and District Open Show in the lovely Netly park, Mr T Allcock had drawn a great entry of 37 dogs, Margaret Unwin had a very good day, winning BOB with Inixia Dreams Magic, he was also short listed in the Toy Group,  Margaret also took Best Puppy with Inixia Touched By Magic who went on to Second in the Puppy Group, many congratulations to Margaret coming shortly after Inixia Dreams Magic’s RCC at Three Counties.

Up at Border Union, the judge Ms A Oliver-Wyles found her top winners in:BCC and BOB CH GLENIREN STARLIGHT KISSES (MRS I & MR G ROBB), RBCC  FRASERMAR FAIRY TALE OF ROZAMIE (MR J A MAGRI), DCC BODEBI SUCCESS STORY FOR BEDELLUS SHCM (MRS P A BEADLE), RDCC BODEBI RHYTHM IS A DANCER (MR J W TURNER), Best Puppy was; SHARJOY BACK TO THE FUTURE (MRS J FINLAYSON). Ch. Gleniren Starlight Kisses, winning her 14th CC on the day, at just two years old went on to win Toy Group 2, Jo Davidson-Postons: Spinillons Isadora won second place in a large Puppy stakes class, again well done to everyone. Judging by the pictures on the website of the Papillon (Butterfly Dog Club) of Scotland, there are the usual lovely pictures of the breed winners taken by Elizabeth Patrick, also there were some pictures showing what appeared to be, a ring invasion, which comprised of a particularly scary looking Witch accompanied by a fellow that looked like a cross between Spiderman and John Major! I am guessing at the culprit being no less than the same lady that upset the judging at South Wales some years ago, then dressed in a confection of Pink masquerading as Barbara Cartland carrying a stuffed Pekinese, her accomplice this time looked very much like he may be the person judging us at Richmond this year. Needless to say I hear the Kennel Club are on to this infringement of rules and will deal with the culprits with all due severity, or perhaps they wont. Anyone that has web access really should check out this website, one of the best for showing the current winners in the breed;

Irish News as follows; at the Munster Canine Association Ch. Show, in Papillons judged by Mr. Raymond O' Neill, he found his winners in GSD - Omaonaig Fire Bird

In Phalenes; Aporia Chiassoso took BOB from AVNC under Mr. J. Muldoon. As is common now in Ireland both Papillon and Phalene BOB compete in the group. Eilish Neally went on to say how happy she was her Puppy; Issoria Right Said Red at Carrigteen was short listed to the final 4 in a large Puppy stakes class, Eilish also says the Munster Circuit schedules are now available, you can also enter online at: www.showdogsireland.ie

Over in Belgium Mrs. Amanda Bruce- Jackson had been invited to judge the 6th Clubmatch of Clepnaco; the Belgian Papillon and Phalene Club. Amanda had drawn a very good entry of Papillons and Phalenes and I hear her judging was highly thought of. Her principle winners were, in Phalenes: Djacinto Di Papalino (Verhelst-Pattyn Rik ) CAC/BOB/R.BIS, Caspian's Fairy-Tale ( Carine Rutten ) CAC/BOS, in Papillons; Up and Down's Frederike (Carine Rutten ) CAC/BOB/BIS, Siljans Averil (Carine Rutten ) CAC/BOS and best Puppy in Show: Candygold's Liberty ( Segers-El Boukhari Stany ), Flying Silk Ronja Raubertochter (Wenner Gustaaf ) Best Veteran in Show. This is a very nice show to visit and I am sure Amanda enjoyed her judging appointment.
