Breeding or Health problems that you have encountered and your experience will perhaps help others who have gone through the same thing or as a warning to others? All are welcome. If any of you have made up a Champion since the last issue, don't forget to send me a photo and 3 generation pedigree along with date of birth, breeder and owner for inclusion in this issue. It was great to see so many Phalenes entered at the show ,16 in total with only one absentee, and Mesdames: Morrell and Teague, Roberts and Smith & Greenslade must be complimented on the advancement of the Phalene in the south. One sad moment was the announcement that the Clubs Chairman, Pearl Peacock decided to step down as Chairman, a position she has held since the clubs foundation, in thanks for her dedication to the club, Mrs Peacock was presented with a bouquet of flowers and was also created the First President of the club along with an Honorary Life Membership. The continuing Raffle for the CISPAP special edition (kindly donated By Dierdre Ashdown & Mike Foster) sold some more tickets and hopefully will be drawn at the Open show of The Papillon (Butterfly Dog) Club in June. The money from this raffle is to go towards the considerable costs involved in treating the 3 Papillons that were recently taken into Welfare. | Dog World | My apologies to Eileen Robert for omitting from the notes last week some news she kindly let me have. Following on from my mentioning in the notes some successes in Ireland for her phalene Serenglade Flagship by Rayol, Eileen tells me that he is now the first Junior Champion phalene in Ireland. At his last five shows he has received five excellent gradings and attained his junior Title in these five shows. He also has 2 Green Stars and 3 RGS to his credit. It's that time of year again when you should star thinking about photos for the Northern and Eastern Counties Papillion Club Calendar. Is it me or is this coming around quicker and quicker each year?? Photos are already starting to come in and these should be sent to Dorothy Simpson by post to Brimmond Bungalow, Hazel Old Lane, Hensall, Nr Goole, N Yorks, DN14 0QA or by e-mail to jd.papillon@virgin.net Unfortunately Jimmy and Dorothy are having to move out of their bungalow for approx 8 weeks due to building work being carried out but she will be able to collect post. If you need to contact her you can telephone the house and leave a message on the answerphone (Tel:01977 662533) or you can contact her on her mobile at 0788 6043940. Photos will be accepted up to five days before the show in July. Many thanks to Eilish for the results from the Irish Kennel Club All Breed International Show held in Cloghran, Judge: Mrs. Catherine Morris (USA).Papillons: A date for your diary: 19th July, be sure to come along to Bradfield for the Fun-Day and Limited Agility show, organised by the South of England Papillon Club. We shall be keeping our fingers crossed that the weather will be kind to us this year, entries are coming in for the Agility show and further details can be had from WWW.Agilitynet.com - or phone Denise Welsh for further details on 01323 441583. Last year was so well supported and was marvellous to watch the Papillons whizzing around the Agility course. The Fun-Day as the name suggests is really a big garden party, all the usual stalls will be there, this year we are hoping to boost the Welfare fund by donating all the proceeds from the bring and buy and produce stall to Welfare, along with the match entry money. Please make some: cakes, jam, sweets, biscuits and scones, perhaps donate some plants, gifts or doggy items or anything that will sell to help boost the funds of Welfare which have been rather depleted recently. We shall hold the usual match with fun classes, don’t forget the fancy dress parade, human and canine, the baby puppy walk: so good for socialising your young show hopefuls. The all-in buffet lunch with dessert will cost £5, with free tea, coffee and squash all day. Further details and a map to the venue can be obtained from the club website on www.southpapclub.co.uk - club members will receive the flyer with details in the next few days. |

The Papillon (Butterfly Dog) Club held their Open Show recently and I understand it was a very enjoyable day. Full results of the Open Show can of course be viewed on the Club's web site at http://www.papillonclub.co.uk At the Cub Show the final raffle was held for the Collectors Edition of the Complete Illustrated Standards of the Papillon and Phalene which Deirdre and I had produced a few years ago and which we had donated for Rescue, Raffle Tickets had been sold at the Club Show, the Club Championship Show and the South of England Papillon Club Open Show. The draw was made at the Papillon (Butterfly Dog) Club's Open Show and Chris Pougher reports that the book was won by Mrs McCabe who was there with her two daughters. She was in fact at at her first Pap show and I believe she said that she had only shown at one show before. She had a seven month old puppy bitch that she was showing and has one other pet papillon. Her daughters are also starting Junior handling. She was over the moon that she had won it. The raffles raised a total of £115. Another relatively new exhibitor who is having a lot of success is Susan Lanson whose Beausher Coquelicot Du Nord at Cantoverde who is just 23 months old and who took BOB and RBIS at the Chadderton & District CS Show. I understand this was her second RBIS in under a month and am sorry I did not have details of her earlier win to report. At Three Counties Dog CC and BOB went to Joe Magri's Frasermar Farenheit for Rozamie and being his third CC gives him his title subject to KC confirmation. Bitch Cc went to Irene and Glenn Robb's Gleniren Sealed With A Kiss Sunshoo and they also took the RBCC with Ch Gleniren Starlight Kisses. RDCC was Sue Morrell and Thesbina Teague's Temelora Just Magic JW ShCM and BP was Irene and Glenn's Gleniren Sunset In Seattle Sunshoo Congratulations are also due to Ann and John Cooper whose Ancojo Chasing Wishes has just gained her Junior Warrant I am sorry to have to end with the sad news that Sue Jones (Shimna) is very poorly in hospital. She had a fall and broke her hip at the end of April and her recovery was going well, and she was back up on her feet and had moved to the cottage hospital close to home, in preparation for return home. Unfortunately she had a bit of a setback about a week ago, and suffered heart failure. She's been moved back to the West Suffolk Hospital, and is being carefully monitored. We hope she will pick up her strength again and be back on the road for recovery - but this is a worrying and frightening time for her. I do not have details of the hospital but if anyone wants to send a card to Sue's home, her daughter will pick them up. |
| Our Dogs | I am sorry to say I had some bad news in an e-mail from Susie Jones daughter saying Susie is having a very rough time a present; she had a fall and broke her hip at the end of April. Her recovery was going well, and she was back up on her feet and had moved to the cottage hospital close to home, in preparation for return home. Unfortunately she had a bit of a setback about a week ago, and suffered heart failure. She's been moved back to the West Suffolk Hospital, and is being carefully monitored. We hope she will pick up her strength again and be back on the road for recovery - but this is a worrying and frightening time for her. Not sure of the ward but Susie is in: West Suffolk Hospitals NHS Trust, Hardwick Lane, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, IP33 2QZ. I know a card from friends will cheer her up. I had the following from the Secretary of the Papillon (Butterfly Dog) Club which held their Open Show last weekend: “ Sue Morrell judged the breed and the top awards went to: Best in Show, Kirkchase Loved Regardless by Papplewick (Messrs. Olding & Munroe), Reserve Best in Show: Havenbar Little Gemma (Mr & Mrs Brunsdon), Best Opposite Sex:Havenbar Little Gemma , Best Puppy in Show: Jhanakia Highland Destiny (Mrs Austin & Mrs Thompson), Reserve Best Puppy in Show: Jhanakia Highland Diva (Mrs Austin & Mrs Thompson), Best Veteran in Show:Glasafon Royal Welsh (Mrs Leverett), Best Fringed in Show: Tawzan Freya of Chriskadu (Ms Pougher), Best Junior Handler in Show: Rebecca Thompson. Chris Pougher also sent an up-date of the Cispap raffle held in aid of the three London rescue Papillons the raffle was drawn at the show, Chris says: “Just to let you know that the raffle for the Ltd. Edition of the CISPAP raised a total of £115.00. This was raised over three shows. The Pap Clubs Ch. Show in April, the South of England Clubs Open show in May and the Pap Club show last Sunday. We drew the raffle on Sunday and it was won by a Mrs McCabe who was there with her two daughters. She was there at her first Pap show and I think she said she had only shown at one show before. She had a seven month old puppy bitch that she was showing and has one other pet papillon. Her daughters are also starting Junior Handling. She was over the moon that she had won it. I think it is nice for someone like that to win it as it will give her a good reference book and a good introduction into Papillons. Many thanks to Deirdre & Mike for offering us the book, also to everyone that bought a ticket”. At Three Counties Ch Show, the weather was good and Mr R Terry was judging the breed in replacement for Mr. T Thorne. The results were: DCC and BOB: Frasermar Farenheit for Rozamie (Mr J Magri) , Res DCC: Temelora Just Magic JW ShCM (Morrell & Teague), BCC: Gleniren Sealed With A Kiss Sunshoo (Mr & Mrs Robb), Res BCC: Ch Gleniren Starlight Kisses (Mr & Mrs Robb), Best Puppy: Gleniren Sunset In Seattle Sunshoo ( Mr & Mrs Robb). They had wanted the ceremony to take place in the Papillon ring, but as things turned out, it was held in the Main Ring after the Group judging. I am sure we all wish them every happiness in their future life together. Congratulations to to Pat Munn on her success at Southampton & District C. A. Open Show with Feorlig Moonlight Shadow At Ringlands who went BOB / Toy Group 1, then went on to win Reserve Best in Show also his son Golden Wish Ringlands won BPIB & Toy Puppy Group 3. Some news of a Fun Dog Show, which will make a nice day out. It will be the first show held at Thames Valley Hospice Summer Fair on Windsor Racecourse July 12th from 1pm. Janet Chandler [Barleybright] is to judge, Fran McWade will demonstrate Show Handling and then judge the young handlers. Royal Canin have promised lots of goodies and S of EPC is supporting the handling classes with super rosettes and ribbons for every competitor. Some good news about Susie Jones, Susie’s daughter writes: “The good news is that her recovery seems to be getting back on track; they've stabilised her heart problems, and are treating her for anaemia and vitamin deficiency. She has moved from what appeared to be rather a "touch and go" position to something much more stable over the last week, and plans are that she will return to the cottage hospital only a few miles from home on Monday or Tuesday. Fingers crossed that everything stays on track, and that she can return home soon. |
