Yippee at last we all had sunshine at Three Counties Showground. WELKS committee and officers were delighted I am sure that their impeccably set up outside rings were in use. Wasn’t it lovely to be outside breathing in the fresh air and the Paps enjoying the grass beneath their paws.

Breed Specialist Philip Shirley of the Cordonrouge kennel was to undertake the task of judging our butterflies and moths. Dressed in a smart light suit Mr Shirley took command of the ring with a kind and considerate manner. Always in control of the ring procedure and clearly giving the directions he required of the exhibitor and their charges.

Perhaps most of us would have liked the possibility of a larger ring as some of the classes gave close proximity for showing. Mr Shirley became aware of this immediately splitting into separate groups, easing the problem greatly.

The last few shows Paps have always been with the smaller breeds so for some this was a first show to the outside ring atmosphere, mixing with larger breeds and the gruffer barks. So a new experience to get used to for the outside forthcoming shows, I hasten to add weather permitting!

The principal winners of the day were as follows. BCC & BOB Robb’s Ch Gleniren Starlight Kisses. What a delight for the show team with Starlet taking her forty second cc and still enjoying every minute of the day. DCC Victor & Mclaughlin’s Ch Lafford Fly me too Farleybane JW, RDCC Brunsdon’s Avonraine Adonis to Havenbar, RBCC Roberts & Smith’s Rayol Eternity. BP Langson’s Metamorphic Phirelight for Skyvana and Best Breeder Mesdames Morrell & Teaque (Temelora). All the winners were greeted with warm applause from the ringside which was very nice to see.

News comes that Ruth Johnson has been in hospital, I think by now once again at home but we wish her a speedy recovery. I am sure a list of ‘do’ things was left for Doug to complete by her return. Last I heard he was merrily painting the boards for the Junior Handling picture rouges gallery for years gone by. Ruth has compiled many pictures for the forth coming PBDC of Scotland’s Championship Show. A lot of effort has gone into this exhibition and I am sure all exhibitors will enjoy browsing through the pictures trying to guess who is who. It would be nice if Ruth receives the praise that I am sure is deserved for her time and endurance.

Unfortunately I can’t be there as my better half is sporting two wheels on the day of the show doing one of his lap of honours. We have to let the men play sometimes! Have a good time everyone and take care on your journey.
We are all very sorry to hear that Mary Fraser ( Fraserdene) is at present in hospital. The hospital address I have been given should anyone wish to send a card is Wishall Hospital. Wishall, Scotland. I am sure all Mary’s friends send their get well wishes.

Well that is about it for now. Keep praying in the right direction for the sun to stay with us and enjoy your shows coming up.

So until the next breed notes keep me up to date with your news.

Irene Robb
