Jenny Scovell then also showed CH Ibstock Heir of Distinction a son of MofD to his title.
Runners up in both Top Breeder and Top Stud competitions were highlights of 2001.
In 2002 we all saw Ch Ibstock Marksman (Ch Ibstock Mark of Distinction x Tussalud Miss Terrie Belle) take his title and storm away during his career taking 10cc’s, 5 with BOB and then going on to BIS wins at the SWPC Pearl Anniversary CH show and N&ECPC. Once again he went on to sire champions including two with the American crown.
In 2003 came the acclaim of Top Brood Bitch with Tussalud Miss Terrie Belle who was a treasured gift to Rosemary from Kay Stewart.
Other notable champions include CH/IRCH Ibstock Bright Spark for Spinillons and CH Ibstock Tallulah for Spinillons both shown by Jo Davidson-Poston.
Rosemary has always lived in Ibstock so by now she must know every blade of grass. We must not forget Rosemary’s hidden talent. I am sure many of you will have seen the beautifully painted Papillon bags over exhibitor shoulders at shows. This is a hobby she loves to take time with and I am sure everyone will agree her paintings are so true to the breed.
The first Challenge Certificate appointment came in 1994 in Belfast. Since then the world has been her oyster with invitations to Canada, Norway and Denmark and of course here in the UK.
So there we are, I hope the journey has been enjoyable travelling through the years of one of our most respected Papillon kennels. All that is left to say is I am sure all the Papillon fraternity wish our Crufts judge a very memorable and enjoyable day.
Carolyne Allward Chebsey secretary of the PBDC brings news that the schedules for the Champ show may be downloaded from the Club website. Entries close 11th March.
Some were handed out at Manchester and the Club show, all others will be posted together with the Newsletter.
Anyone wanting a schedule who wants a hard copy, if you let me have your address I will put one in the post to you or better still see Carolyne at Crufts.
Please note in the schedule from the printers, the definition of the Limit Class is incorrect. They put the definition used for 'Limit Shows' in by mistake. So please delete the words 'Open &' from the printed version. (Meaning, wins only at Ch shows are counted). All schedules that are posted out from now are amended, and the correct version is on the website copy.
In a further issue of the breed notes look forward to news of a 100 club competition that has been set within the PBDC for the members. A chance to win a monetary prize each month so I will keep you posted with all the finer details when they come in.
Ground breaking news, sorry for the pun has come in from Joe Magri. Whilst in the field feeding the horses a couple of weeks ago he slipped when opening the five bar gate, his wellies got stuck in the mud and fell harp six into the electric wire. I believe the hair voltage was such that a new upright hairstyle will be the new trend for Crufts. Unfortunately Joe heard a snap in the wellie area with his ankle taking two journeys with the sat nav. Luckily for him the pair of scissors in his pocket caused no damage and he was able to contact Kevin on the walkie talkie. Kevin hot footed over and luckily with having his Weetabix for breakfast managed to carry Joe back to base. After spending a considerable time in the hospital that day the ankle is broken and in a cast to just below the knee.
Kevin has a full time job trying to get all the jobs done during 24/7 and Joe has promised me that he hasn’t cracked the whip too often but Kevin might appear two inches shorter by Crufts.
However Joe will be at Crufts complete with wheel chair to sit at the ringside with notepad to mark Kevin on his handling skills out of ten.
During the Crufts lunch time Joe will be doing a cast signing and requests that you queue in an orderly fashion. Pictures and cartoons are not an option!
Well if you are sat down with a well earned cuppa and DW after preparing the dogs I hope you all have a super day and look forward to having a chat with you around the ring at Crufts.
Please send me your news, remember points mean prizes ie: a mention in the breed notes!
