03 June 2010 - Our Dogs
Lots of goings on North of the border; with two back to back shows last weekend. Firstly the Papillon (Butterfly Dog ) of Scotland, which was founded in 1960 held their Championship show in celebration of the Golden Anniversary of the club. By all accounts a lovely time was had by all, with a super atmosphere and all exhibitors taking home a memento souvenir. I hear there was a very interesting photographic display, created by Ruth Johnston with photos of past show winners going back many decades. The show attracted a very good entry for judge, Breed specialist - Liz Anderson and she found her principle winners in: DCC & Best in Show CH.LAFFORD FLY ME TO FARLEYSBANE JW (Victor & McLaughlin), RDCC & RBIS AM/CAN. CH. ARKENO'S EARS TO YOU (Alfadl,Loye,McKay & Berg), BCC & BOS ADNAMASHAN ONE MOMENT IN TIME JW(Skelton Mr & Mrs R), RBCC CARAIDEAS GAME REFLECTION (Hill Mr P & Mrs J) Best Puppy in Show PAPPLEWICK PRETTY IN PINK AT ADINAKEN(Smith, Mrs K M)Best Veteran, PYATSHAW WHITE HEAT (Macgregor, Mrs A) Best Breeder in Breed, Miss P. The following day SKC Ch. show took place with Breed Specialist Mrs J Edson judging and she found her principle winners in: DCC and BOB AM/CAN CH ARKENO'S EARS TO YOU, (S, M J, K A & M ALFADL, LOYE, MCKAY & BERG) , RDCC CHAPPELL LOVE BUG AT APORIA (MRS V E COTTON) , BCC VOLPECULA YOURE SO VAIN AT AMICAE (MR A PHILLIPS) , RBCC MEERWINGS THE SWALLOW TALE BY PYATSHAW (MRS A MACGREGOR) Best Puppy. ROZAMIE FLEUR DE LYS (MR J A & K N MAGRI & ARROWSMITH). Many congratulations to all the winners and especially to VOLPECULA YOURE SO VAIN AT AMICAE for winning her 3rd and crowning CC to give her, her Champion title.
Overseas news: starting with Debbie Burns sending news of her: Petitchien's Alfie Moon at Beautyfly who continues to do well in Germany, having achieved his 3rd CAC at the International Dogshow at Saarbrücken. Carine Rutten sends news that Multi Ch. Up n’ Downs Frederike who has gone to live with Sharon Mahoney in Australia went Best in Show at the Papillon Club of Victoria. Carine also had a lovely day in Aalst in Belgium. Judge Mrs L.Reinelt Gebauer(De) gave Multi Champion Powdermill Sweet Touch Spinillons (Rutten / Davidson-Poston) his final CAC to become Belgian Champion He later was also the Winner of the Belgian Breeds (all dogs who have their origin in Belgium compete for this) I think there are 14 breeds also Powdermill Touch The Night was res. Best Male.
I heard the training day, Sophie Landon organised in aid of Papillon Rescue UK was a great success, with some very favourable reports published from participants on facebook. These days of expensive show entries, it is really is essential to handle your dog well and bring out its best, I think we all can learn something, look out for the next event.
I was very sad to hear of the passing of Jean Grant, thanks to Dorothy Simpson for sending this message: “Very sad news this morning is that Jean (Granasil Papillons, Cavs & Chins) died early today after a devastating illness. Just last year she was diagnosed with Motor Neurone disease and has been fighting it ever since. She has shown great courage and to the last was so interested in her Cavs and Jap Chins, which Lesley her daughter and Penny Robins showed for her. She took a keen interest in all aspects of dog showing. She will be especially remembered for the yearly Calendar she produced each year for Humberside Cavalier Rescue which over the years has raised many thousands of pounds. She will be sorely missed by all her family and friends. God bless you Jean”
