Perfect showing weather for Toy day at Bath Championship show. This society really does show one of the best examples of how a show should be run. The showground looked a treat with cut grass rings that anyone would be proud of as a garden lawn. Behind the scenes ran like clockwork and in out tenting for the comfort of the exhibitor with the BIS area giving a feel of majestic elegance, as it should. My thanks to the exhibitors that gave up the Friday of the Bank holiday to support my day of judging. I had a lovely day and it was a delight to see our lovely breed from the other side of the fence. What was nice was to see some really promising puppies and youngsters coming through the ranks.
The principal winners for the day were as follows: BOB/DCC Alfadl, Loye, McKay & Berg’s Am / Can Ch Arkeno’s Ears to You with John Oulton handling. This being the third cc for claiming the UK title. RDCC Dembiniok’s Temelora Sun Dancer at Hollrexia JW sh.CM, BCC Phillip’s Volpecula You’re so Vain at Amicae, RBCC Stewart & Stewart-Knight’s Denemore Story’s Echo at Tussalud, BP Banfield’s Kingshaven Allo Allo, BV Morrell & Teaque’s Serenglade Satanya for Temelora.
Next on the merry-go-round was Southern Counties, unfortunately unable to get there but once again I believe sunshine prevailed. Mr Francis Yeoh took on the task of judging the breed. Pat Munn must have been cock-a-hoop with her youngster Mad about Saffron at Ringlands taking the BCC and BOB. Liz & Alan Bartram must have been thrilled with Burghbridge Black Shadow taking the DCC. RDCC Gummer’s Juara Solo, RBCC Morrell & Teaque’s Temelora Forest Nymph JW.
New ring arrangements for Three Counties with no tenting this year. Inside ring and benching area in the halls but adjacent was the outside ring, so no problem if the weather had turned tail. No fear here the day was sunny and bright. The ring was up hill and down dale but as long as you negotiated the pot holes all was okay. Unfortunately a couple of exhibitors did painfully crick their ankles on the uneven ground.
Sue Stanbury was in charge and as always coped admirably with the day. Judging was completed in record time with exhibitors able to browse the stalls or relax with the ice creams for the remainder of the afternoon.
Entries were down this year with both stall holders and refreshment owners perhaps feeling the pinch. What summed it up for me in a comical way was when Phil Morris who is a personal friend was going round with the quad picking up the rubbish. Phil’s team run the clearing up operation for the show, keeping everything spick and span. He usually finds me at the show to say hello. I was greeted with “Hi Irene, slow here today I’ve only been round once to pick up the turds”. So you see, now we know how to gauge whether entries are up or down!
A good day for the Paps with successful group results. Ruth Weston was thrilled that her Ch Powdermill Touch the Stars took the DCC with BOB and then going on to a GP4 under Peter Jolley. RDCC Victor & McLaughlin’s CH Lafford Fly Me Too Farleybane JW, BCC Hill’s Caraideas Game Reflection both Jaqueline and Lynda Phillips who handled were delighted. RBCC Morrell & Teaque’s Temelora Forest Nymph JW.
The star of the day has to be the puppy. This youngster strutted his stuff first time out with perfection. Joe Magri and Kevin Arrowsmith must have felt like they had won the lottery. Taking with Tutyak Edward Rozamie not only BP but BPIS under Stuart Mallard. What a truly magical day for not only the owners but of course his breeder Elizabeth Cochrane. Many congratulation to you all.
From SWPC Margaret Unwin brings news that she is the new stall holder and the club’s shop has had a re-vamp. Take a look on www.southwalespapillonclub.com as new items are being added all the time.
Sad news from Helen Verity that her Mum Marion Verity passed away in hospital after suffering a long term illness. She will be certainly missed from the N&ECPC shows as she was a regular exhibitor and was always happy to have a chat with everyone. Our thoughts and condolences to all the family.
Well that is about it until next week. Until then please send me in your news.
