12 February 2010 - Dog World
News a little thin on the ice at present. However I would like to give congratulations to everyone who has had success at the Open shows during the last few weeks.
Paps have been notching up commendable group placements for both adult and puppy groups, which is pleasing to see. Unfortunately owing to the DW criteria I am unable to report singularly in the breed notes. So I would like to give a collective well done to all those concerned.
The Open show takes as much preparation, time and travel as a Championship show for the exhibitor. Therefore merit that should be given to the awards, without people attending the Open shows they would diminish greatly.
Whether you are taking your new puppies for training or in the adult classes it is a great social event for both the two and four legged varieties.
Many exhibitors are taking the road for their Junior Warrant award. At Chichester Open Show Sue and Jon Caton were on cloud nine when their little Twiglet (Lorah’s Girls Aloud at Hendrix) gained the final points to complete this said award. Twiglet is fifteen months old so a good achievement for both Pap and owners. I am sure her breeder Carolyne Allward-Chebsey was cock- a- hoop when she was told the news.So please remember to please pick up the phone or email me if your little star has earned the JW at the end of the name. It takes a lot of hard work and should be recognised.
I am off to the Northern & Eastern Counties Papillon Clubs seminar. I am hoping to give you a full insight of the working of the people behind the scenes and guest speakers. I believe it is a full house and places where reserved very quickly.
The PBDG are holding a Phalene Workshop on Sunday 2nd May with a special treat as the guest speaker will be Linda Greenslade of the Serenglade Phalenes. The event will be held in Napton Village Hall, Nr Southam, Coventry. Pre- paid tickets are £20 per person and this includes a buffet lunch and refreshments. Sounds like it will be an informative day not only for the Phalene enthusiast but also for the Papillon folk too. If you want to know more details then contact the clubs secretary Carolyne Allward- Chebsey at 44 Gilbert Rd, Litchfield, Staffs WS13 6AX. The cheque should be made payable to the Papillon (Butterfly Dog) Club. Please remember to enclose a sae for your ticket to be posted to you. It is very important that we the exhibitors attend these events as the more information we can sponge up the more knowledgeable we will become. We also need to make sure to support the clubs that are making the effort to hold and organise the seminars. So look out for further news from the clubs and grab the opportunity to attend.
So I am now off to investigate the rest of the house as we have the plasterers in working on stilts. This should be entertaining, best not let the puppies out there could be a few calamities!
Until the next breed notes send me your news.
