I have a few Open Show results this week, starting with Nelson and Clone Open Show: BOB went to - Pepeke at Arthurs Court, Mr K and Mrs P Rimmer, Best Puppy Garbreisa Craiginnis - Mrs L.M Crawley. Pepeke at Arthurs Court (who is a Phalene) went on to win the Toy Group. At Bridgford & District Canine Society Open Show, Terry Thurman judged the Breed and found her principle winners in: BOB - Maskell's Kazkell Velvet Dream JW who went on to win Toy Group 4 and Best Puppy in Raper's, Kazkell Definately Dazling for Kennice who went on to take Toy Puppy Group 3. At Sunderland & District Open show, Mr Raoul Smith was the judge and he found BOB in : Clints, Dolcissimo Rocky ShCM, and Best Puppy went to Atkins, Papplewick Pinball Wizard to Vlinder who (at just 9 months old) not only won the Toy Puppy Group but went on to take Best Puppy in Show, that’s a great result and very well done to all the winners this week.
A message from the Acting Secretary of the P(BD)C that was posted to Papnet was as follows: "The Committee of the Papillon Butterfly Dog Club would like to inform its members that all paperwork should be received over the next few days in reference to our pending AGM. We apologise for the short time scale prior to the AGM however we have liased with the Kennel Club who have confirmed that we are working within our constitution and have their support during this difficult time due to the unforeseen circumstances. Best regards Kevin Arrowsmith (Acting Secretary)”
There have been some interesting comments on Papnet regarding Phalenes, It started with a mail mentioning the procedure needed to make sure any Phalenes registered with the KC, had the word Phalene included after their name, more importantly there is a plan to apply to the Kennel Club to ask them to include the word Phalene where appropriate in all pedigrees which at present does not happen. One or two of the Phalene fanciers are planning to collect names at the forth-coming Phalene Seminar to forward a request to the Breed clubs that they may support this proposal at Breed Council, who can then send an official request to the Kennel Club. I am sure this can be done quite easily; it would just require a little tweaking of the Kennel Clubs programme. It seems very sensible under the current upsurge in interest in the Phalene, new breeders wishing to produce Phalenes really will need to be able to study back the generations to try and assess the best way forward for their breeding programmes. I am looking forward to the Seminar very much and it will be interesting to learn what Mesdames, Greenslade, Morrell and Roberts have to say, the seminar was first conceived to introduce a guide for better understanding of the ear carriage in Phalenes and this will perhaps lead to including clearer meanings in the breed standard if it is felt necessary.
