16 April 2010 - Dog World

UK Toydog saw 182 Papillons make their way to Stafford for a day of judging with separate judges for dogs and bitches.

The main hall annex ring area is always noisy with an echo which can be unsettling but both rings were of a good size and as always the show is extremely well run and a pleasant show to attend.

Our judges were both well respected breed specialists and dressed smartly for the said occasion. Queenie Bruce took up her place in the dog ring and Elizabeth Patrick in the bitches. Both judges went through the day calmly and collectively always giving consideration to both dogs and exhibitors.

Queenie Bruce’s principal winners for her dogs were DCC/BOB Victor & Mclaughlin’ s Ch Lafford Fly Me Too Farleybane JW, RDCC Weston’s Powdermill Touch The Stars. Elizabeth Patrick’s principal winners were Robb & Roe’s Getupandgo de Costalina Suniren (imp), RBCC Carroll & Newman’s Ger Ch Denemore Iconsgabi.

BP was the bitch Stewart & Stewart-Knight’s Denemore Story’s Echo at Tussalud, BV went to Smith’s Wee Lucy of Adminaken Sh Cm and last but not least Best Breeder Sue Stanbury (Inixia).

The Pap Junior Handlers had a good day with ten year old Caragh McGrath winning both the 6-11yrs JHA Junior Handling with judge Charlotte Nickel and the YKC 6-11yrs under Michael Coad. Winner of the 17-24yrs YKC Handling was Kirsty Miller so very well done to both.

Melanie Mann also had a successful day with her Pap Sarasale Shaboom over Melangel achieving a Bronze Citizen Award.

News that Debbie Goodwin and Sonny have won their way to Grade 5 agility level. Great news all steam ahead now for Grade 6.

Just a reminder that the Open show of the South of England Papillon Club will close soon, as always the Prize money for this show is in excess of £300. Mrs J Miller will judge the Breed classes and Mrs P Cox the JHA and Welfare Classes. The show is at Chieveley on the 15th May and as always we are keeping fingers crossed to hold the event outdoors, so far only once we have managed to do that, please let us have some sun this year. As usual excellent food will be available and free Tea and Coffee all day. For a schedule, contact Show manager Mr N Cook – 01634 241073

A reminder also to all previous winners, please search though your trophies for any awarded at the Clubs Open show as these should be returned, either to the show or to Cup Steward - Mr A Pearch 01372 745025 prior to the show. Also all the winners of the Perpetual Shields won at the Championship Show are reminded to have their dogs names engraved on one of the embellishments with the date 2009 and please make sure these are also returned to Alan. in plenty of time for the Championship Show on August 1st.

Congratulations to Bedellus Jive Dancing to Julandia at just 16 months for gaining his JW (subject to KC approval) at Gravesend Medway.

Next week we bring news from the SWPC Open Show and the Combined International Show.

Until then take care on your journey to the shows.

Irene Robb
